The New York Yankees fans appeared to have had a tough day at the ballpark, starting before the first pitch and following nine innings when the team tried to snatch the Milwaukee Brewers a win during Thursday’s opening day game.
Broadway actress and singer Betsy Wolf was tapped to sing “Star Spangold Banner” before the game began.

However, Wolfe’s direction seemed to frown for the wrong reasons as fans quickly pointed out that a California native had read the lyrics from her phone.
The “Juliet” star faced backlash on social media for putting out a phone, with at least one fan begging the X’s Yankees to “do it.” But others were impressed by her voice in general.

The hearts of Yankees fans were racing early when catcher Austin Wells hit a solo home run to get on the board. He became the first catcher in MLB history and hit a leadoff home run on the first day.

Still, New York had a hard time closing the brewer’s doors.
New Yankee closer Devin Williams started the lead of nine innings with Joe Ortiz single and Isaac Collins double. He then allowed him to get a run, but managed to end the game by attacking Jackson Chowlio and Christian Yeric.
New York won, 4-2.
