It’s time for the madness to begin. The NCAA Tournament Field is set for both male and female basketball, and now it’s time to win a new champion in the sport. The 68 women’s field is loaded and there should be a lot of parity among the top teams of truly dominant teams this season, in contrast to last year when South Carolina was undefeated and the overwhelming favourites won it all.
The No. 1 seeds are UCLA, South Carolina, Texas and USC, with the Bruins leading the overall seed. Since the tournament expanded in 1994, the No. 1 seed has won the title 23 times. On the other hand, no. The second seed has won four championships and three seeds. The latest seed was LSU in 2023, and this year it is the third seed again.
UConn, the most won program in women’s basketball history with 11 national titles, is the second seed. Geno Auriemma became the most wondrous coach in basketball history earlier this season, and despite not winning the trophy since 2016, he led the Husky to 15 of his final 16 Final Fours.
The action began with two first four games on Wednesday night. Leading last year’s breakout star Audi con man, Iowa, has defeated Princeton. The Cyclone will face No. 6 seed Michigan on Friday. On the other hand, no. 16-seed Southern is no, as he won the first tournament in the program’s history. Defeated 16UC San Diego. The Jaguars face UCLA on Friday.
The first four scored spots in the 64th round on Thursday, when Columbia and William & Mary were scored. Columbia defeated Washington nearby and earned the 11th seed. The Lions will win No. 6 Seed West Virginia on Friday. 16-seeded William & Mary defeated a shocking high point as the tribe made history as the first sub.500 team to win the NCAA Tournament Game. They are now taking on No. 1 seed Texas on Friday.
