William ShatnerMaking history as the oldest person to travel to space at the age of 90 in 2021 provides honest advice to all the female crew of Blue Origins, ready to go beyond the atmosphere of Earth and prepare for their own journey.
“You’re on an adventure. You have to accept that,” Shatner told Gale King, a member of the crew in a recent interview. The 94-year-old actor is best known for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek and traveled in October 2021 on his first human flight of blue origin.
As All women’s flights on April 14th are preparing for release Shatner emphasized that this experience is different from what you can imagine, especially the feeling of zero gravity.
“There’s no word to explain what zero gravity is,” Shatner said. “That’s the strangest feeling. It’s not a swimming pool with astronauts, there’s nothing like that. It’s nothing.”
The actor warned of a fierce G-force during takeoff, but encouraged the crew to use mantras to keep them focused during the journey.
Despite the challenges, Shatner said it was a rare opportunity.
“You’re going to see the world like anyone else. Only 600 people have seen it before,” he said.
