Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on domestic assault Friday, police said.
Worthy, 21, was arrested in Georgetown, Texas, according to Williamson County Sheriff’s Office jail records.
He faces three-degree felony assault charges, according to prison records. KCTV on CBS News Affiliate refers to attacks on family members and household members, “is committed by intentionally, intentionally or recklessly obstructing a person’s blood circulation by intentionally, intentionally or recklessly obstructing a person’s blood circulation by intentionally, intentionally or recklessly blocking a person’s blood circulation by either putting pressure on a person’s throat or neck or blocking a person’s nose or mouth.”
Details of the incident leading up to Worthy’s arrest were not available immediately.
CBS News reached out to the Chiefs for comment.
An NFL spokesman told CBS News that the league is aware of the issue and is in touch with the club.

Worthy was selected for the 28th pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, KCTV said. As a rookie, he recorded 59 receptions with 638 yards, 104 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns, according to statistics shared by ESPN. During the playoffs, he became the team’s main recipient, KCTV said. he I played at the Super Bowl Against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.
Worthy was born in Fresno, California, and performed for the University of Texas’ Longhorns before joining the NFL.
