Virginia Tech did just that. They pulled off a huge upset over the seventh-ranked Miami Hurricanes with a Hail Mary walk-off win on the road — at least that’s what they thought.
With three seconds left in a 38-34 loss, Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones said a prayer from the back of the end zone to both Hokies receivers and Hurricanes defenders.
It was initially unclear who had the ball, as both teams thought they had won the game and stood up to celebrate. In the end, the referees signaled it was a touchdown catch by Daquan Felton, and as time expired, the Hokies appeared to have won 40-38.
