The Atlantic Coast Conference is under fire days after a game between two conference foes ended in a controversial ending.
The Miami Hurricanes and Virginia Tech Hokies took turns celebrating what each team believed to be a victory at the time.
But in a college football game, there can only be one winner.
The chaotic final play turned out to be heartbreaking for Virginia Tech when the referees overturned a Hail Mary touchdown that allowed Miami to survive. This week, Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry became the ACC’s latest critic.

Pry claimed that game officials failed to provide an explanation immediately after the call and in the locker room after Friday’s game. The coach said he was not briefed on the reversal until early Saturday when the ACC released a statement that was “confusing at best.”

“On Monday morning, I was finally contacted. This was at the request of ACC leadership,” Pry said Tuesday.

“I asked for an explanation and for them to see the video with incontrovertible evidence to overturn the decision. The explanation was that a Miami defender touched a loose ball that was outside the box. The video didn’t show anything new.” The words used for me were “interpretation” and “difficult to find,” both of which are moot for me. It was something. ”
Pry also argued there was insufficient evidence to support the decision to overturn the original verdict.
“I saw the video that they saw. If it was ruled a catch, I don’t know how they overturned it. There’s no evidence. If it was ruled not a catch, how did they overturn it? I don’t know. You can do it.” I don’t see it enough to say it. ”
The league “determined that a Miami player touched the loose ball while outside the box.”
“During the review process of the final play of the Virginia Tech-Miami game, it was determined that the loose ball was touched by a Miami player while he was outside the box, therefore the pass was incomplete and the play ended immediately. ” said the ACC statement.
During a game on September 27, Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones threw the ball to receiver Daquan Felton in the final minutes of the game. Felton appeared to complete the catch, but the referee later ruled that the pass was incomplete.
