The manhunt for the killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is entering its fourth day, and detectives across the country are working overtime to gather information that will bring the suspect to justice.
Thompson was shot just before 7 a.m. Wednesday outside a New York City hotel and died less than 30 minutes later. Detectives are investigating numerous clues left behind by the suspect, including a backpack, water bottle, phone and shell casings.
Philip Holloway, an attorney and legal analyst with a law enforcement background, shed light on what New York state and federal investigators are thinking in an interview with Fox News Digital on Saturday.
While national media coverage has focused on the search for the suspect, who is said to have left New York, Holloway argued that the attacker may not have acted alone.

“Obviously, if a murderer received any assistance before, during, or after the murder, law enforcement would want to have a solid case against such an accomplice,” the former police officer said. Explained. “If they see someone that way, they don’t want to alert you to that fact.
“The bigger question is, how do I know exactly when I’m going to walk out the door at 6:45 a.m.?”

Holloway, who frequently appears on FOX News Channel, also addressed speculation about whether police have the suspect’s name. At a press conference on Saturday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams appeared to suggest that authorities may know the identity of the shooter.
“I don’t want to put it out there right now,” Adams said. “If we do that, we’re basically tipping the guy we’re looking for and we’re not giving him an advantage at all.
“Let him continue to believe that he can hide behind a mask,” the mayor added. “We have revealed his face. We will reveal who he is and we will bring him to justice.”

Holloway told Fox News Digital that the purpose was to protect the investigation.
“Assuming the suspect’s name is known, and I doubt that it is, the only reason to withhold the suspect’s name is to be part of an ongoing investigation. It’s for protection,” Holloway said. “And what makes the most logical sense in that regard is that authorities are looking to see if there are other people involved.”
Holloway, who is not involved in the investigation, told Fox News Digital that he is “about 90% certain” that one or two other suspects were involved in the murder.
However, he stressed that anything is possible at this early stage of the investigation.

“When we only have pieces of the puzzle, imagination tries to fill in the gaps,” Holloway said. “Almost everything is plausible at this point. We will get a clearer picture in the coming hours and days.”
