Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Ukraine said it would accept a 30-day ceasefire with Russia after talks with the US in Saudi Arabia aimed at ending the battle on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the US and Ukraine.
The agreement took place after more than 8 hours negotiation between Ukrainian officials and a US delegation led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“Ukraine has expressed its preparation for accepting the US proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, extended by a mutual agreement between the parties, which will be subject to simultaneous implementation as accepted by the Russian Federation,” the US and Ukraine said in a joint statement released by the State Department. “The United States tells Russia that Russia’s mutual relations are key to achieving peace.”
The US will “suspend information sharing immediately and resume security assistance in Ukraine.”
