Approximately 60,000 tumblers sold at Wawa stores in eight states and the District of Columbia received four reports of laceration incidents after the manufacturer received four reports of laceration incidents, according to a notice released Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. As a result, it was recalled.
The notice states that the metal straws in the tumblers pose a risk of cutting consumers’ hands and mouths.
Halo Brand Solutions, a Sterling, Illinois-based company that imported the Chinese-made tumblers, said the recall includes 24-ounce reusable plastic tumblers with the Wawa stamp that were sold in August. Each sold for about $13.
The tumblers were sold in four varieties: pink and green “The Mermaid,” blue and yellow “Island Surf,” tan and orange “Sailor Breeze,” and blue “The Galaxy.” And pink. All have tan lids.
Anyone who purchased the tumbler should stop using the metal straw and contact Halo to inquire about how to receive a replacement silicone straw after returning the metal straw.
Consumers can also return the tumbler and metal straw for a refund in the form of a $15 gift card. Consumers should not return recalled products to Wawa stores, the company added.
