If current FBI Director Chris Wray is replaced before his term ends in 2027, he will either have to resign from his position or be fired by President Trump.
A source previously told CBS News that the Trump campaign was aware of the complications involved in ousting Wray.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, President Trump said Patel was “a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and “American ally who has spent his career exposing corruption, upholding justice, and protecting the American people. “The number one fighter,” he praised.

Patel published a book in 2023 titled “Government Gangsters,” which received praise from President Trump, in which he wrote, “The FBI is deeply compromised and unless drastic measures are taken… It will continue to be a threat to the people.”
“This is a roadmap to ending deep state domination,” President Trump told Truth Social about the book in September 2023.
