A suspect rammed a truck into a bus stop near the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, injuring at least 35 people in what local authorities are investigating as a possible terrorist attack, with one victim reportedly dying from his injuries.
In the city of Ramat Hasharon, in the Grillot district northeast of Tel Aviv, Israelis were returning to work after a week’s vacation when a truck crashed into a bus that had stopped to drop off passengers.
The bus stop is near an army base and the headquarters of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad.

Some of the victims were crushed under the truck. Israel’s international news agency Tazpit News Agency (TPS) reported that a civilian shot and killed the truck driver, who then allegedly came out with a knife.
Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Medical Center announced late Sunday that one person injured in the attack had died, TPS reported.

Police sources told TPS that the truck driver was a resident of the Israeli-Arab town of Karansawe.
Hamas and the Islamic Jihad terror group praised the suspected attack but did not claim it, according to the Associated Press. According to the TPS report, many of the injured were elderly retirees who were visiting the museum. At least one victim suffered life-threatening injuries, according to TPS.

Several army intelligence units were also targeted by missile attacks from the Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah near the site.

Meanwhile, Iran’s supreme leader said Israel’s weekend attack on the country “should not be exaggerated or downplayed” and stopped short of calling for retaliation, saying that Iran should not respond to the attack. He indicated that he was considering the matter carefully.
On Saturday, Israeli warplanes struck Iranian military targets in response to Iranian ballistic missile attacks earlier this month.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that the airstrike had “inflicted significant damage” on Iran and that all of Israel’s goals had been achieved.
