A Florida woman accused of suffocating her boyfriend in a suitcase is preparing to go to trial next week after Hurricane Milton delayed the case.
Court TV reports that Sarah Boone’s request for professional hair styling and makeup during her murder trial was denied by a judge last week, citing safety concerns with these products.
Boone, 46, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the suffocation death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, 42, in their Winter Park apartment in 2020.
Torres was found dead in a suitcase in her apartment on the morning of February 24, 2020.

The Florida Attorney’s Office released a video allegedly recorded on Boone’s cell phone, which shows him allegedly locked inside a suitcase while playing hide-and-seek in an intoxicated state. Torres’ final moments were shown screaming, “I can’t breathe.”
Boone allegedly told law enforcement that he drank wine and played hide-and-seek with Torres when he passed out in bed.

Authorities said cell phone video showed Torres trying to get out of the suitcase.
Fox 35 Orlando previously reported that Boone yelled in the video, “Everything you’ve done to me, (expletive) you! Stupid.” “It’s your fault. Oh, that’s how I feel when you cheat on me.”
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Boone had sought to prevent his initial interview with police from being used during the trial, but a judge denied the request.

The judge initially intended to allow her team to wear makeup while in the courtroom for the trial, but the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told the judge that makeup is contraband in jail. Court TV reported that the company was informed that there were safety concerns. Her request was denied.
The murder trial was scheduled to begin this week, but was postponed to Oct. 14 due to Hurricane Milton.
