The homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were broken into last month, CBS affiliate KCTV5 reported, citing law enforcement.
KCTV5 reported that police in Leawood, Kan., responded to a robbery call on Oct. 8 at an address previously reported to be Kelce’s home in suburban Kansas City. In a statement to CBS News, the Leawood Police Department said it does not comment on specific crime victims except in cases of fatalities or homicides, but a call log map shows police were called to a residence in Leawood that night. He said he provided it. He was charged with robbery on October 8th.
According to TMZ, which first reported the incident, $20,000 in cash was stolen from Kelsey’s home, according to a police report. CBS News has not independently confirmed that information.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement responded to Mahomes’ home in Lake Lloyd, Missouri, also near the state line, shortly after midnight on October 6, KCTV5 reported.
In a press conference Wednesday, Mahomes called the intrusion “frustrating” and “unfortunate” and said the investigation is ongoing, KCTV5 sportscaster Marleah Campbell reported.
The Chiefs faced the New Orleans Saints in Kansas City on October 7th, then entered a bye week in which the team did not play a game.
Travis Kelce said on a May 2024 podcast episode with his brother and former NFL player Jason Kelce that someone posted his home online and he started receiving tons of emails. . “I literally had to tell the post office and everyone to stop bringing stuff into my house,” he said on the New Heights podcast.
During an appearance on Shaquille O’Neal’s “The Big Podcast with Shaq” in February, Jason Kelce said his brother had to move to a different house for “safety reasons.” He said his brother’s relationship with Taylor Swift has been in the spotlight, and that dating a pop star comes with its downsides. “Travis knows a lot more than I do,” he said. “He had to get out of the house completely.”
CBS News has reached out to local police for more information on both robberies and is awaiting a response.
