Flying passengers take a unique stance on seat squatters by encouraging others to test their luck in the hopes of avoiding seat-taking travelers .
On Reddit’s “R/UnitedAirlines” forum, one user posted screenshots of flights that were barely booked.
“Seat squatters can’t ruin your flight if you do it yourself,” the post was captioned.

The attached photo shows the user selecting a central seat, suggesting that if you secure less desirable seats on the plane, the flyer is less likely to encounter stolen seats .

Gary Leff, a Texas-based travel industry expert and author of the blog View From the Wing, told Fox News Digital that squatting in a seat is a coincidence in most cases.

Leff said the airline changed its seat switching policy when flights were not fully booked.
