Tina Knowlesthe mother of global music superstars Beyonce And Solange reveals details about her personal relationship with her mother, her divorce, her own parenting and the children of Destiny, a group of girls.
Knowles, a businesswoman, fashion designer and former stylist at Destiny’s Child, tells her life story in her memoirs. “patriarch” She reveals her complicated yet loving relationship with her mother, explaining it as “overprotective” and “terrifying.”

“I wanted to be a singer, but this small town is the size of it and there were no singers there. That’s what my mom said. My mom would have done anything for me as much as I loved her and she wanted the best for me, she really had no hope.”
She told Gayle King, co-host of “CBS Mornings” in an exclusive interview that her upbringing side had an impact on her upbringing.
“I was going to trust my kids, but I didn’t believe in being friends…but I wanted them to trust me,” she said.
“My parents put restrictions on me, not because they wanted it, but because they didn’t want me to disappoint or hurt me,” she said. “I told my girl that you can always do what you want.
The impact on child-rearing
Knowles spoke with King about how different her daughters are. She said the teacher would recommend Beyoncé repeating her grades at school. Knowles said Beyoncé, now a global superstar, was shy and quiet until she got to know people.
“I’m not embarrassed by what we are all around,” Knowles said. “At home, she was funny. She was singing, she was dancing, she was doing everything I did. … So she’d be quiet until she knew you.”
The former teacher told Knowles in her assessment that Beyoncé is a bright student.
“I took her to Mr. Little. … She was a very strict former teacher and she said, “There’s nothing wrong with this girl. She’s very bright. She doesn’t want you to let her know.” ”
Conversely, Knowles describes Solange as “very extroverted,” saying, “I enter the room and become like, ‘Yes, I’m here.’ ”
When Beyoncé and Solange were 12 and 7, Knowles treated them together. It was a controversial decision in her own family, as her then-husband, Matthew Knowles, opposed.
“He was saying, ‘I don’t want that part,'” Knowles said.
For Knowles, she was important as she began to see separation between her two daughters.
“Beyoncé became like this little star in town, and she was always so close to Solange and very kind, but she was in a song group so everything happened in our home,” she said. The other girls in the group will tell Solange to be silent and quiet.
Knowles’ goal with therapy was to ensure that the two were growing closer and saying, “Whatever I have to do to make it happen.”
The Beginning of Destiny’s Child
Knowles says she tried to become a singer, and although it didn’t work for her, she used her skills to help her daughter achieve their dreams.
“God has always given me these tools from the first day when I could go back and pull out, and who did I think it was going to be making costumes for my destined child, or I would have thought I was doing everything I did for my hair and our group.
However, Knowles admits that there was a problem along the way. She said the label doesn’t like Destiny’s kids style.
“They were dressed like an R&B group. We love a huge charm. And their hair was too big. “They thought it was too much for those young girls and they should wear jeans and t-shirts like all the pop icons of the time.
Knowles said criticism from the label hurt her feelings, but it was a moment when she remembered pushing her husband Matthew back.
“He’s just bold, and when I talk about him, that’s one of the things he’s always done for me and for me, he fought, he defended me.”
Navigates the criticism of marriage and child-rearing
Knowles also wrote frankly about her memoirs about the highest and lowest of her 30-year marriage to Matthew Knowles.
She said from the beginning that he had an affair in his marriage and that she realized that she needed to prepare.

She began planning what she called her escape plan. Knowles opened a hair salon called Headliner. Knowles expressed heartache and anger at the situation towards people who thought their daughter had disguised her pregnancy and used prosthetics.

Divorce and advance
When she decided to divorce Matthew Knowles, she said she spent a week in bed, feeling depressed. Her longtime therapist has given her the practice to do: create a list of achievements and failures.
“It was a very easy time to write bad things. When I got to something positive, I struggled very much,” she said. “What I’ve noticed about myself is that I’m not really comfortable with people who say great things to me.”
She said she didn’t trust some of her achievements in the past to be humble, like working with Destiny’s children. She will tell herself, “It’s not about you.”
But then she began making a list.
“I got mad and started writing them down,” she said. “I started a salon. It was a success. You know, I raised some amazing kids. All the people I’ve met in my life, like I have a hell of life.”
Four years after his divorce from Matthew Knowles, Tina Knowles married actor Richard Lawson. They were together for ten years. She said she was grateful for the relationship despite it ended.
“I knew Richard 40 years ago, and I think he’s a great guy,” she said. “So I have no regrets about the time we spent together, and I felt a lot of pressure on ending the marriage.
She wants to find love again, but if she doesn’t, it’s peace.
“I’m finally feeling it. I’m 71 and I know I’m enough. If I wasn’t, I’d have a very full, wonderful life, and I’m so blessed.
