On Friday, Scott launched his candidacy after speculation last month that he was set to become chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) for the 2026 midterm cycle.
“Let’s do it! I’m running for NRSC Chairman because two years of Republican policy is good, but four years of success under Donald J. Trump is even better. ” he told FOX News Digital in a statement.

Current NRSC Chairman Steve Daines (R-Mont.), who recently took over the reins of the Republican Party’s campaign arm after successfully regaining the majority, has endorsed Scott.
“We took back the U.S. Senate in 2024, and there is no one more trustworthy to protect the majority in 2026 than Tim Scott,” Daines said in a statement.

The South Carolina Republican also has support from Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso (R-Wyo.).
