White House spokesman Caroline Leavitt said the Trump administration currently has “18 paper proposals” for trade transactions.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said the Trump administration currently has “18 paper proposals” for a trade deal following the implementation of the latest tariffs.
“We spoke to our entire trade team this morning. There are a lot of progress. There are currently 18 proposals on paper brought to the trade team. Again, these are paper proposals that the countries have proposed to the Trump administration and the government,” Levitt told reporters Tuesday.
“We have Secretary Becent, Secretary Ludnick, Ambassador Greer, NEC Director Hassett and Peter Navarro, and we have an entire trade team that will meet with 34 countries this week alone,” she continued. “We’re moving at Trump speed so that these transactions are made on behalf of American workers and Americans.”
Leavitt also announced that “the president and administration are setting the stage for dealings with China.”

“I asked the President about this before I came here and I wanted him to share with you all what we’re doing very well with the potential trade deals with China,” Leavitt said. “As I mentioned, there are currently 18 proposals and over 100 countries around the world that we would like to do business with the United States.”
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said at Investor Summit on Tuesday that Fox Business has learned that the US and China are expected to rule out a deadlock on tariffs as it is unsustainable for both countries.
