The 23-year-old Texas man is charged with capital murder after authorities say he stabbed the Dallas man 55 times and helped him leave the apartment.
Dallas’ Ethan Isaiah Rodriguez is accused of avoiding in a car, avoiding in a car and possessing marijuana, according to a news release.
Dallas County Jail records show he is held on a combined $1.25 million bond.
Rodriguez allegedly helped 28-year-old Mason Raymond Davis leave his Dallas apartment on Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Affiliate Fox 4.

Surveillance video showed the pair moving between the apartment and Davis’s vehicle before Rodriguez left the apartment himself in Davis’s vehicle in the middle of the night, according to court documents.
According to the affidavit, Dallas police missed work on Sunday and were unable to reach them, so they responded to the apartment for a welfare check on Sunday. Upon reaching the unavailable apartment, they realized he had been stabbed 55 times.

Davis’ vehicle, reportedly stolen on Sunday, was found Monday before moving away from police during a traffic stop.
The driver, Rodriguez, destroyed Davis’s car and crashed into “multiple” cars before escaping police.

Police used a stun gun during their subsequent arrests, and Rodriguez was taken to hospital for evaluation, Fox 4 reported. He was later interviewed at Dallas Police Headquarters.

According to the arrest warrant, Rodriguez was wearing shoes that had a “very similar” pattern to a bloody shoe print found at the crime scene.
The Dallas Police Department declined to request comment from Fox News Digital.
