The University of New Mexico footballer could be sentenced to life in prison after being convicted in federal jury on conspiracy and drug trafficking charges.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) says 29-year-old Rayshawn Boyce ran a methamphetamine distribution business from within the New Mexico prison.
Boyce was convicted last year in federal court for stealing a postal worker at muzzle. He was also convicted of stealing an arrow key, a universal key used by postal workers to access people who possess mailboxes and firearms and those prohibited. The armed robbery occurred in 2022.

While in custody at the Chibora County Correctional Center awaiting trial for these crimes, Boyce began smuggling methamphetamine into prison with the help of security guard Gabriella Torres.
“A review of surveillance footage revealed that on the evening of May 16, 2022, Correctional Officer Gabriella Torres smuggled a bundle of methamphetamine into a facility under Parker and then (a) smuggled it into a cell in Boise’s camera-not covered area. “After a while, Boise retrieved the bundle, hid it in a blanket and returned to his phone.”
DOJ says when Boyce learns that the prison will be searched the next day, he tried to hide the medicine in the shower area. They were discovered by correctional officers.

The buyer paid Torres through a CashApp account where Voice told her to set up for drug dealing.
Torres pleaded guilty to one conspiracy and remains in prison while she awaits sentence. She helped smuggle marijuana into prison on two separate occasions.
Boyce has not yet been sentenced to robbery or drug trafficking a postal worker. He stays in the prison awaiting sentence.
