Airline passengers traveling from Los Angeles, Mexico to Cancun took to social media and shared how the crew handled the recent incident of vaping while on board.
The post, posted on the “r/alaskaairlines” Reddit forum, was entitled “Vapor for Lax-Cun Flight 4/18/25”.
The user determined that on the 1340 flight this morning, a ‘woman’ (according to gossip I heard from the flight attendant) had to take a little photo of the lava because “she was stressed out.” “It writes.
The pilot is said to call for vaping passengers at the cabin-wide announcement.
While Reddit users were in the bathroom, Puilot announced that according to the post.
“The pilot comes in the air and is a smoke alarm for lav, telling everyone that “smoking or vaping or chewing cigarettes, or chewing (permitted) (permitted) (permitted) (permitted) (permitted).”

The user concluded, “I leave the lav, hold my seat and shake my head with a digust, so everyone knows it’s not me.”

Many other Reddit users visited the comments section to share their thoughts and opinions on vaping on planes.
“It’s dangerous because smoking on an aircraft is illegal,” one user commented.

Another user said, “Please note that this is not necessarily a criminal offence. So, unless there are other serious activities there, you will not normally be arrested for this. It is a civil violation and could result in FAA penalties.”
I proposed one Redditor. “The answer for smokers and vapors is to use patches or Zyn on flights.”
Another commented, “Smoking and vaping means that the FA will need to submit a smoking/vaping report, so you can actually do it in real time from your working device.”

“I think the airlines are careful and we’re cancelling her flight to our home.
“I have several friends who are flight attendants. She was not arrested because she didn’t want to be forced to process documents in that jurisdiction and then deal with incidents related to major US airlines and their airports,” she shared.

The company lists prohibited items on the Alaska Airlines website under the “Onboard Policy.”
“We prohibit the use of items that do not meet FAA or Alaska Airlines regulations. These include electronic smoking devices – battery-operated or USB-charged cigars/cigars/pipes that simulate smoking.”

Gary Leff, a Texas-based travel industry expert and author of the blog View From the Wing, told Fox News Digital that there is a stigma against vaping.
“Other passengers may think that the vaper is smoking a cigarette, even though it’s not,” Lev said.

He said, “You can’t smoke on a plane. You can’t smoke either. The FAA interpreted the ban on smoking cigarettes as including vaping products, although completely different.”

He said, “It’s not about banning steam. The regulations simply expand the ban on cigarettes to include e-cigarettes.
