San Antonio Spurs head coach Greg Popovich won a “mild stroke” in November and hasn’t coached since.
The 76-year-old missed six games earlier this season and the team announced he had made a stroke. He coached the team’s first five games of the season.
ESPN reported on Saturday night that Popovich’s future is uncertain in his recovery.

“This was certainly an unexpected six weeks for my family and me,” Popovich said in December. “As we are working with the recovery, I would like to share that the pouring of support we received during this period is as overwhelming as possible.
“I hope you all come back, but for now, let me say that my family and I are forever grateful. We are a great community, the whole Spurs organization, and me. I am grateful to my family and friends.”

At the time, Popvich said, “I see myself coming back to the bench, no one sees me coming back to the bench, no one sees me coming back to the bench, no one sees me coming back to the bench, no one I’m not even more excited. They learned quickly. They learned quickly. I have fewer coaches.”
The team said he is expected to recover in full. Mitch Johnson has led the Spurs in Popovich’s absence.
The news comes after it was recently revealed that Victor Wenbagnama will miss the rest of the season with a blood clot in his shoulder.
