When flight passengers complained about the seat squatter, one traveler became creative by switching seats without creating bad blood.
On Reddit’s “R/Delta” forum, someone who said he was on a non-stop flight from New York to Austin said, “Someone paid me to exchange a seat in the aisle in the middle.”
“On boarding, two guys came to my queue and asked if someone in the aisle or window would replace it.
Passengers on the flight say the dog barked “non-stop” on the eight-hour flight.
Reddit users said other passengers shot down the offer and one of the men was sitting next to the Reddit user.
“The guy next to me asked if I would trade for $150. I thought about it and said yes.

According to a Reddit post, when the flight attendant came along with a drink cart, the man offered to buy the user a drink.
“I was confused and wanted water, but maybe I could have gotten free wine from the deal,” Post said. “I think the lesson here is that everyone has a price.”

Redditors visited the comments section to share their experiences and consider dealing.
“Someone once paid me $100 to switch from aisle to a window. It’s not easy for me,” one user shared.

“It seems like a victory victory for everyone. That’s how you request a seat swap,” another user commented.
“This is the way: If the flight isn’t too long and you just throw away the price comfortably in the middle seat, you won’t lose anything, so why not,” another said.
One Redditor said, “I’m small enough to fit in the middle. I’m going to do this deal for $150 and a drink. Congratulations.”

“I paid $50 for seat allocation for the next 13-hour flight. After reading this post, I feel very fortunate,” he added.
“I sat in the middle seat for free,” another traveler wrote.

Etiquette experts (not in the photo) say travelers who want to replace their seats should consider offering “purchase one or two drinks, pay the airline extra fee, and pay cash/transfer funds.” (istock)
“I feel that replacing and offering something is a bit different from asking when someone says no and getting upset.
Gary Leff, a Texas-based travel industry expert and author of the blog View From the Wing, shared similar sentiments with Fox News Digital.
“You need decent trade bait! Don’t provide a middle seat on your back in exchange for an extra legroom aisle,” Lev said.

“There’s a compelling reason to resonate with the person you’re asking, and it offers something decent in return, so it’s not a big deal to give you what you want.”
California-based etiquette expert Rosa Linda Randall also told Fox News Digital that travelers looking to replace their seats should have more compassion when raising requests for a switch.

“Think of this. If the flight attendant can make an announcement, buy a drink or two, offer to pay the airline extras, and pay cash/transfer funds, then there’s more luck,” Randall said.
