Tiger Woods lamented the death of her mother, Kurchida Woods, describing her in a social media post as “the power of nature in her own way.”
Woods said he died Tuesday morning.
“It’s a heartfelt sadness to share that my beloved mother, Kurchida Woods, passed away early this morning,” he said. “My mother was the power of all nature of her own, and her spirit could simply be denied. She was fast with needles and laughter.”
Woods did not share details about his mother’s cause of death.

fellow professional golfer Rory McIlroy also paid tribute to Woods’ late mother. At a press conference after the TGL event, McIlroy was reminded of Kultida Woods’ latest support show for his son. Last week she saw Tiger join a simulator-based series in Florida.
“Yeah, it’s obviously very sad, surreal. She was here last Monday night. Yeah, it looked suddenly. I got to know Tida a bit. She’s always so very He was warm, very polite and generous with her time. He was always happy to see her in the tournament,” McIlroy said.

Mike McCarley, founder of McIlroy, Woods and TMRW Sports, has partnered with the PGA Tour to launch its first season of golf leagues. The TGL honored Woods’ mother before Tuesday’s game between Boston Common Golf and Los Angeles Golf Club.
“Before tonight’s match here at Sophie Centre, we held a moment of silence in honor of Tiger’s life and Tida Woods, who was so committed to his success. ESPN’s Matt Barry said during the broadcast. .
“Last week, last Monday, Tida attended here at Sophie Centre and cheered on Tiger for winning. Our thoughts and prayers are all due to the loss of Tiger, Charlie, Sam and Tida Woods. We are with us. Our thoughts are our thoughts. And prayers are with his family.”

Kurchida met Ar while in the Thai army. Kurcida and Earl tied the knot before moving to Brooklyn, New York. The couple later moved to Cypress, California, where Tiger was born. Earl Woods passed away in California in 2006.
ESPN said Tiger, whose real name is Eldrick, was named after his mother and father. The name Eldrick begins with E in honor of Earl and ends with K in honor of Kurchida.
