Hoffman and Dr. Sidalta Mukersey, the author and the Puritzer’s Award, announced the company on Monday. Manas starts with new treatments for aggressive cancer, such as prostate, lymphoma, and triple negative breast cancer, using artificial intelligence.
The development of new drugs is traditionally expensive and complicated. According to Deloitte reports, it takes more than 10 years to develop a single drug, costing billions of dollars. Manas stated that using its own chemical libraries and AI -driven filters to identify drug candidates more quickly, and ideally reduce the number of decades discovered processes to only a few years.
“Most of the people have died of cancer or have friends and families who have serious cancer problems,” said Hoffman in this week’s interview. “If this can make a big difference, that’s why AI is a great reason for humanity.”
Manas has raised $ 24.6 million seed funds led by Catalyst and General Hoffman, with his partner’s participation from Gray Rock. Hoffman has existed deep in AI in recent years. He helped to start a transformation AI, along with the early Openai investor, who was still a non -profit organization, and Deepmind’s co -founder, Mustafa Suleyman. Last year, SULEYMAN joined Microsoft. Here, hoffman is an officer as a new unit CEO called Microsoft AI. Several transformation employees have joined him.
Manas has also concluded a partnership with MicrosoftAnd use the Azure cloud computing platform. Hoffman, which sold Linkedin to Microsoft for $ 27 billion, stated that Manas has also developed some additional tools from Microsoft.
Hoffman has created mana for about a year in cooperation with Muhagie, but this process has taken up steam in the past few months. Hoffman said that the team was ready to share his ambitions this week because the basic resources of the baseline were appropriate.
Seeing the competition is “I’m completely happy”
The company has a long way, and the drug discovery market is very competitive. Major pharmaceutical companies such as other startups Eri Lily,, Paser and MerckWe are also looking for ways to accelerate drug research and development using AI.
Hoffman said he was confident in the Manas approach, but said that he was completely happy to see multiple companies prosper.
“We will also bring what the startups usually do. This is a desire to go very hard and quickly abandon what has not worked,” he said. “It is important to live like this week, and this week’s result is important.”
After Manas launched Manas, Hoffman said that five different potential strategic partners are already approaching the company.
Hoffman stated that the company is in “Build” and “Learning and Development” mode. According to the company’s website, one of the early initiatives is called Project Cosmos. Hoffman refused to share additional details on the project.
Manas currently has only four employees, including Hoffman and Muhagie, but Hoffman said it would grow. He is the company’s “AI GUY”, but Mukherjee is functioning as “Bio GUY”. Eventually, mana is to fuse two fields.
“It’s not just the best science, it’s not just the best of AI, because one of these two is insufficient,” said Hoffman. “I need to put together these two.”
As a man of AI, Hoffman was paying close attention to the sudden appearance of China’s deep -safe this week in the United States.
DeepSeek has begun to create a hot topic in January, when Startup released the open source inference model R1 comparable to O1 of OPENAI. This model is said to have been developed by Openai, Anthropic, Google, etc. at a part of the cost of rival models.
Hoffman said that Deepseek may encourage American companies to increase their pace and share plans faster, but new revelations do not suggest that large models are bad investments.
“The competitive game has begun,” he said, “But,” Oh, my god, we are losing! ” “
