Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, said social media is “not well done” about the possibility that children can be caused by social media. Harry was attending the event with his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
“The easiest thing to do is to keep your kids away from social media,” Harry said.
The memorial is open 24 hours a day, but each consists of 50 smartphones displaying images of organizers who have lost their lives due to social media, the BBC reports.

“It’s universal truth that our kids are doing harm to what’s going on online,” Meghan said. “I think we’re putting as many good joys as possible into the world for those who have come online and have chosen to join social media as adults.”
Many families in the UK traveled to New York to demand better protection for children in high-tech companies. Some of them took part in another protest outside Meta’s office.
Among those families was Ellen Roome, the mother of 14-year-old Jools, who passed away in 2022. Roome believes it happened after the online challenge went wrong, and the BBC reported that his social media accounts could hold evidence. It turns out that Jools died of suicide.
Meta said they recently introduced special accounts for teenagers with increased protection. “We believe that we deserve consistent protection not only across our platform but also across all the different apps they use,” Meta said in a BBC statement.
“I’m grateful that the kids won’t be able to join social media at this point,” Harry said Thursday. Harry and Meghan’s children Archie and Lirivet5 and 3.
“One of the reasons we do this is because we want to make sure things are changing, together with all these parents. Even if we do that, we will ensure that no more parents or children get lost on social media. That’s unacceptable. It’s wrong. It’s no longer a secret.
