The big debate over how early to get to the airport is back.

The warning reads: “Delta Air Lines: The TSA baggage screening system at Orlando (MCO) Airport is currently operating at reduced capacity and experiencing longer processing times. Please allow 3 hours prior to scheduled departure to drop off your checked baggage. Please arrive by.”

According to MCO’s website, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority recommends a three-hour departure time from the airport. The recommendation is encouraged during “peak holiday travel periods, such as Thanksgiving,” an MCO spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital in an email.
“Due to record numbers occurring on some holidays, passengers will be required to book parking, check-in baggage, pass through security, etc. based on the expected number of passengers on their flights. We recommend arriving three hours before the event,” the spokesperson wrote. “The last time we offered this advice was on Thanksgiving. This message does not reflect our day-to-day work.”

“As a resident of the Orlando area, unfortunately, MCO has grown so rapidly over the past few years that we are running out of space to house our in-line baggage system screening capabilities in the North Terminal (A and B). “There is no backup like this, which is unusual for the North Terminal belt system,” said another.

“Yesterday, I received the same message about my family’s flight. We already had transportation scheduled and could not change the arrival time slot. We had a 6:30pm departure and three flights arrived at exactly 4pm. I checked my bags in. 2 bags were marked priority (if that makes any difference) & 1 person was not at the counter in line,” a user commented.
“The TSA pre-screening line was busy and we had to wait 30-35 minutes. We used Clear/W TSA pre-screening and we were through within 10 minutes. Our luggage arrived successfully. It could certainly be different at other times of the day.”
