Nantucket Island has grown in popularity over the past few years thanks to popular books and shows depicting this quaint island.
A woman who has been ‘obsessed’ with visiting holiday destinations for over 20 years shares her top tips and tricks to make the most of your time on the island.
“I’ve been going there since I was a baby and started training at the restaurant in the summer of 2018 seven summers ago,” said Charlotte Drinkwater, a 23-year-old social media coordinator based in New York. say. said in an on-camera interview with FOX News Digital.

Drinkwater showcases the island’s beauty on TikTok, which has been viewed more than 3.7 million times. Drinkwater said she and her family have been drawn to it for years.

Drinkwater, a native of Massachusetts, said the island, which she returns to every summer, will always have a special place in her heart because her parents met there “many years ago.”
“We grew up vacationing on the island, usually about two weeks at a time, maybe more. And I think when I was in eighth grade…my family got a house on the island. ” she said.

She said, “It’s hard to be in a bad mood or have a bad time when you’re out there.”
Drinkwater explained that there are many reasons why this island is special. One of them, he says, is a community of people who “look out for each other.”

Drinkwater said the historic island, with its family-owned restaurants and lack of traffic lights, is unique and “feels like you’re in another world.”
Drinkwater credits author Elin Hilderbrand, known for writing novels about the island, for the increase in tourism in recent years.

“She does a great job of portraying the island. Especially after going to all those places, (the book) really feels like you’re there,” she said.
She added: “The lifestyle, what people say, how they dress, what they do is very accurate.”

Her recommendations for visiting the island included having dinner at Millie’s, enjoying a sandwich on the beach, and visiting Cisco Brewers on the weekends for live music and food trucks.

According to the government website for Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, Drinkwater recommended visiting the far end of the island. The island is approximately 105 square miles in area, 14 miles long, and 3.5 miles wide.

“If you’re visiting, don’t stay on one part of the island,” she encouraged, adding, “Try to wander around as much as possible.”
The frequent visitor also warned visitors to be aware of the island’s peak tourism periods, especially July and August, and to plan ahead as much as possible.
Regarding visiting Nantucket in the fall, Drinkwater said it’s the “perfect” time to see the island, with locals calling it “local summer” because of the lack of tourists.

“We have beautiful weather, similar to summer, with a little less heat, but less crowds, so you can go to the beach and see fewer people,” she said.
Ms Drinkwater added: “I think it’s quite magical to see the orange leaves falling on the cobblestone streets, especially in October.”

Drinkwater said fall is still a great time to visit, but she recommends going on the weekends, as some restaurants close during the week to give employees a break from the summer tourism rush.
Autumn is also a common season for weddings to be held on the island.
“Be sure to make dinner plans as there aren’t many restaurants on this small island and they get booked up,” she said.
