Pro Football Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson slammed Carolina Panthers team owner David Tepper over his treatment of quarterback Bryce Young.
The second-year player was benched during the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and replaced as the starting quarterback earlier this week. Panthers head coach Dave Canales said it was his decision but noted that general manager Dan Morgan and executive vice president Brant Tillis also had input on the matter.

Johnson said on FOX NFL Sunday before the Week 3 game that the ultimate responsibility falls on Tepper’s shoulders.
“The owner of the Carolina Panthers, that’s the problem,” Johnson said. “He’s making major decisions without consulting any of the football people. David Tepper … it’s his team now, he can do whatever he wants.”

“But look at the guys who are left. He’s the one who wanted to pick Bryce Young No. 1 overall. Look at Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore, Brian Barnes, Baker Mayfeld, Sam Darnold, coaches Steve Wilks, Frank Reich, Matt Lue. He passed them all up. He’s making the decision. He needs to listen to the football people and quit fantasy football.”
