The 7-year-old Nevada girl died after being attacked by rocks at a ski resort on Saturday, officials said.
Adelin Grimes, a native of Reno, Nevada, was identified by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examination Office after an incident at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, just a few miles from Lake Tahoe coast.
“The unexpected death of a child is an unimaginable loss that no one could prepare,” Grime’s aunt Sabina Grimes wrote in Gofundme. “Our beloved brother and sister suffered a great loss from the recent passing of our precious daughter, Addi.”

Medical Services were warned of a “non-skiing accident involving a child” at the ski resort on Saturday, March 29th around 3:38pm, the resort said in a statement.
“The Diamond Peak Ski Patrol responded immediately and provided responses while emergency services were on the way,” the statement said. “Despite the best efforts of the emergency medical team, the child succumbed to injuries.”
Fox News Digital confirmed that her cause of death was determined to be “accidental” by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The prosecutor’s office said the young girl died of blunt instrument injuries to the neck and chest.

The Wash County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the death, described the incident as a “non-skiing accident” and a “tragedy.”

They pointed out that they believe foul plays are not involved.

The child was a member of the Sugar Bowl Race Team, who competed in the under-12 ski championships at the resort, the Reno Gazette Journal reported.
“The entire Diamond Peak Ski Resort family is deeply affected by the tragedy that occurred at the resort on Saturday, March 29th, 2025,” the resort said.

Counseling and support services are now available to staff affected by the incident.
