A 14-year-old student was arrested on suspicion of bringing a gun to Apalachee High School, the Georgia school where two students and two teachers were killed in a mass shooting in September, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday. Announced.
School staff safely arrested the student at approximately 2:02 p.m.
“The student was cooperative and compliant during encounters with law enforcement officers. There were no reports of the student threatening anyone with a firearm,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was later transferred to a juvenile detention center.

The boy was charged with theft for being a minor in possession of a firearm and possessing a deadly weapon on school grounds.
Authorities did not say what type of gun was seized or how the child obtained it.

In response to the incident, the Barrow County School System canceled Thursday classes at the high school and convened a meeting to discuss options for immediate safety enhancements.
“We understand that this evokes a range of emotions within each of us,” the school said in a statement. “We will notify everyone of any changes to school procedures after tomorrow’s board meeting.”
Colt Gray pleads not guilty, demands jury trial

On September 4, 14-year-old student Colt Gray allegedly opened fire at Apalachee High School, killing two teachers and two students.
Teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimy, 53, and students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, were killed.
Since then, Gray has been charged as an adult with 55 charges, including 25 charges of aggravated assault. He has maintained his innocence and, if convicted, could be sentenced to life in prison without parole or life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Colin Gray, the father who was arrested and charged with purchasing the AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle used in the shooting and giving it to Colt for Christmas, faces 29 charges, including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of manslaughter. He is accused of a crime. Involuntary manslaughter. He also pleaded not guilty.
Georgia is one of 42 states in the United States where parents have criminal liability for their children.
