meta A range of apps, including Facebook and Instagram, went down on Wednesday, leaving users unable to access their services.
The massive outage began around 9:57 a.m. PT and affected the social media company’s core apps, as well as Threads, WhatsApp, and Messenger, according to user-submitted reports collected by internet monitoring site Downdetector. Ta.
At the peak of the outage at 10:11 a.m. PT, more than 100,000 users experienced issues while using Facebook services, according to Downdetector.
Meta acknowledged the outage in a morning post on social media site said.
“We are working to get the situation back to normal as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience caused,” XPost said in a statement.
Another Instagram-related X post this morning also acknowledged the outage, saying the company is aware of “technical issues impacting some people’s ability to access Instagram.”
Later that day, Meta confirmed that the outage was still impacting the app, saying in an afternoon post on X that it was “99% of the way there and just doing final checks.”
Shortly after, Instagram announced in an afternoon X post that the photo-sharing service was back online.
“And we’re back again. We apologize for the wait and thank you for your support,” X’s Instagram post said.
In March 2024, the company’s various apps suffered an approximately two-hour outage on the same day as the U.S. presidential primary on Super Tuesday.
