McDonald’s new Chicken Big Mac will soon be on menus in U.S. stores, the burger chain announced Thursday.
Instead of the usual beef patty, McDonald’s uses tempura-crusted chicken, with special sauce, pickles, shredded lettuce, and slices of American cheese sandwiched between sesame-seed buns. The fast food chain first introduced the Big Mac in 1968.

This comes after McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski called chicken a “priority area” for the company and reiterated that strategy in the company’s latest earnings call. “Our chicken sales are now on par with beef,” he told analysts.
McDonald’s announced in September that it would extend the $5 value menu available at most U.S. restaurants through December, the second move in a deal that was originally intended to last one month.
