A major fire broke out at a U.S. Army storage center in Busan, South Korea, on Thursday night, the Daegu U.S. Army Garrison confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m. local time, a fire of unknown cause was reported to have broken out at a warehouse in the Begil-dong area of ​​Busan.

The Daegu US military garrison activated a mutual aid agreement with the Busan Fire Department in response to the fire.
Spokesman Phil Molter said the depot was undergoing renovations and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Molter said the fire was brought under control around 10:45 p.m., but it took several more hours to extinguish the hot spots. The fire has not been extinguished.

“Due to residual heat and the structural integrity of the building, it was not possible to enter the building and the cause has not yet been determined,” Molter said.
The U.S. military built the site as a supply base in 1950 at the beginning of the Korean War.
