singer Katy Perryone of six women Blue Origin’s Historic Flightsang “What a Wonderful World” during part of a roughly 11-minute journey to the edge of the universe.
Perry’s crew asked if she would sing and suggested her hit to “Roar” or “Fireworks”, but after landing, Perry said it wasn’t about her song.
“It’s about collective energy there. It’s about us. It’s about creating space for future women, creating space for space and belongings, and seeing this wonderful world there and evaluating it,” Perry said. “This is all for the benefit of the earth.”
“CBS Mornings” co-host Gale King Perry’s song choice was revealed in an interview after the flight.
“The best part is when Katie sang “What a Wonderful World” when she returned to her seat after Zero GS. ” king I said.
Perry also spoke about his daughter Daisy, who cheered on her mother during space flight.
The pop star said she brought daisy flowers with her.
“Daips are common flowers, but they grow in any condition,” Perry said. “They grow through cement. They grow through cracks. They grow through walls. They are resilient. They are powerful. They are everywhere. They are God’s smiles, but it is also a memory of our beautiful earth and flowers.”
In addition to Perry and King, journalist and philanthropist Lauren Sanchez, film producer Kerian Flynn, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bow and civil rights activist Amanda Nuguen were on board the space flight.
