The Kansas Jay Hawks’ disappointing season continued on Saturday, resulting in a 78-73 defeat to the 10th Texas Tech, but Zeke Mayo was a huge hit from the court.
Mayo struggled in the contest, going 7-7 from the floor, which includes a 0-5 clip from three-point land.
After the game, Mayo took an X and blamed the loss.

“I deserve all the criticisms of the world. My performance is pathetic today and I have been there for a while. I do great things every day, but I’m not always perfect. I’m sorry to our fans and teammates.
But the message came with screenshots of hateful messages, including what called him “trash can n —-“. Another user told him to “kill himself,” but another user wanted to die.
The incident was enough to issue a lengthy statement that head coach Bill Self repeated that he was “pride” of his team.

“Today’s game was a very good college basketball game. We played a very good team and got a beat,” Self wrote. “Some of us had extraordinary individual games, while others didn’t meet the standards we set for ourselves.
“I roll with these guys every day and I’m proud of it. Criticism about the team should be directed at me. I’m the head coach.”
He finished his statement. “This is the most important time of the season, and this is when we need to get better, but we need to focus on basketball and we’re not told we have absolutely zero benefits outside of basketball.”
