Arizona State University’s Cam Scatebo shut down one fan on social media after the star running back was criticized for staying out late the night before the Peach Bowl.
Skatebo capped off a record-breaking season with a strong performance in Wednesday’s double-overtime loss to Texas.
On Thursday, Skatebo refuted claims by a fan that he had been out late the night before.

“Check out. Cam was out late last night in classic ASU fashion. This is not the football school we are. That’s the reason,” he posted.

Skatebo responded to the post the next day, claiming he had been out to dinner with his family.
“Hey clown, it was 8:30pm and I was with my family,” Skatebo said in the post. “Yes, they were drinking. If you know me at all, you know I don’t drink. But I didn’t get a photo or an autograph, so I posted this. There is no doubt about it.
“Some people just want influence, and that’s disgusting.”

The fan who first shared the photo responded by admitting it was “fury fodder.”
He later defended posting the photo.

“For everyone saying I’m going to ruin his life and delete it… where did I lie? He was late and late are relative terms. The rest is just my opinion. I would never try to ruin a young person’s career. I had a hard time making mine!”

Despite the loss to Texas, Skatebo was named Peach Bowl MVP. He had 30 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns and eight catches for 99 yards. He also threw one pass late in the fourth quarter for a 42-yard touchdown.
