JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon announced Friday that he does not support Donald Trump. The move comes after the former president claimed in a social media post that America’s most prominent banking leader supports Donald Trump.
“Jamie Dimon has not endorsed anyone. We have not endorsed any candidate,” Joe Evangelisti, a spokesperson for the New York-based bank, told CBS News in a statement.
The denial came after the Republican presidential candidate posted a false screenshot on his Truth Social account saying, “New: JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon endorsed President Trump.”
Trump told NBC News he was unaware of the post, but it was still visible on his account as of 5:10 p.m. ET.
The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
The post, which appears to have originated from X’s verified account earlier in the day, quickly attracted the attention of various pro-Trump accounts before Trump voiced his opinion.
Before Trump was nominated as the Republican presidential nominee, Dimon endorsed former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in the party’s primary.
Friday’s Truth Social’s post is not the first to falsely suggest that President Trump will garner celebrity endorsements. The former president posted this in August: AI generated image Taylor Swift claimed to be supporting him. of superstar support My opponent a few weeks later, Kamala Harris.
