You can’t tell the story of Jack Bech without his brother, Martin “Tiger” Vech. Football ran in the Betchi family, where both his father’s siblings played receivers at LSU. And that was the first Tiger, and then Jack, who took part in the game. And it may have been Tiger who planted Jack’s competitive drive. Because as a brother, five years as a brother, it is likely that he physically ruled him when he played as a child.
While Tiger was playing high school soccer, Jack played a pickup game behind the end zone. And it didn’t take long for people to realize that Jack is a taller version of Tiger, and then added the skills and traits that made him a little better than the Big Bro. By third grade, Bech led St. Thomas More High School with 91 catches in 13 games, 1,668 yards and 20 touchdowns, adding another score with nine punt returns for 202 yards. The Cougars won the Division II State Championship in 2019, tallying 59 grabs, 1,159 yards and 15 touchdowns (one rush) in 2020 in nine games.
Despite the dominant statistics, Vech was not a highly sought-after outlook. He appears to have been destined to Vanderbilt, and he committed to Commodores in March 2020, until LSU offered him the high school quarterback first committing. At that point, it wasn’t difficult for Bech to switch to LSU. He kept his family’s name in the school locker room.
Bech’s Journey took two major turns. After the 2022 season, he moved from LSU to TCU, citing it as a result of changes in coaching. Baek didn’t affect the horned frog until 2024. More importantly, Jack’s brother Tiger was killed in a New Orleans terrorist attack on January 1, 2025. Jack believes Tiger as his best friend, his role model, and now his guardian angel.

NFL Comparison: Jerricho Cotchery
Jerricho Cotchery has proven to be a great contributor with plus size, underrated speed, great hands and a knack for big plays. It’s not stretching to suggest that the same can happen with vetis that require coaching, but you’ll enter the league with excellent hands and good sizes on the route running.

praise
2024: Senior Bowl MVP Second team All-Big 12 (62 receptions, 1,034 yards, 9 touchdowns) after catching a game-winning touchdown a month after his brother died in the New Orleans terrorist attack
Strength
Strong arms and thick upper body helped Behi play a little bigger than his 6-foot-2, 207-pound frame suggested. In 2024, the series was widely lined up in TCU (75%) in 2023. With LSU, Bech was used almost exclusively in slots, especially in 2022 (94%). Bechh ran all but 28 of the 411 routes from the right side of the formation in 2024, but was much more diverse otherwise. It had a rather advanced root tree and was mastered with hitch and slants, but definitely out, dig and work with posts. In 2024, there were only four screens running, which is a good thing. Bech has confirmed that TCU receiver coach Malcolm Kelly will develop here. There was a good explosion from the snap. This is a rather unique feature that a larger receiver has. The loose hips helped Vech ease the cut and turn, contributing to the speed of short regions that are underrated in turnbacks to quarterback. The footwork was pivoting with one foot and dragging the other to gain momentum, then stopping with each foot and opening up, which suited her body. I stopped at the dime to make his cut. He continued to speculate on defensive backs, adding spice to his game with effective stutter steps, jabs and double moves. There is still room for improvement. Excellent tuned hand and tracking skills that only drop 4 drops (200th target) in 4 seasons and only one drop in 2024. Bech was also great at involving deep balls and adjusting them to target off-passes. The contested catch has been on his highlight reels since high school. It had a very good strength and balance. Bech has swaying muscular tissue, playing with the tiger’s heart, and it was hard to defeat. His 75-inch wingspan emphasized his catch radius. He was a happy blocker who put in enough effort on Run Plays. It comes from the athletic family. Uncle Brett and Blaine played soccer at LSU. Blaine won the national championship, while Brett played in the NFL and became the strength and conditioning coach for the Dallas Cowboys for nine seasons. The Tiger brothers were returnees of the Princeton Tigers special team. The characters are high. He is known as the team first man. He praised his competitiveness and the determination he made by his coach. According to Kelly, “He’s not the only one to win.”
Concerns
Strictly stiff speed prevents Baek from drawing double teams all the time. Sometimes he felt like a first-speed runner catching him from behind on Sundays. He scored just 5.3 yards after catching per reception in 2024, locking him out of top 100 wide receiver qualifiers. It’s worth mentioning that he was able to break the second gear from time to time when Downfield Throws was in the air, but that may not be enough to help him win the NFL corner consistently. In his breakout year, Bech had much lower efficiency for male compensation, including much lower yards after catch per reception, compared to the zone. His footwork is excellent in some respects, but he may really be a handful of improved techniques on both the snap and his route. A good coach makes it happen and takes his game to the next level for all coverage. The effort was done in run blocks, but the execution waned. He needs help to become a better run blocker. Later career breakouts are mildly concerned. He played for Malik Neighbors and Brian Thomas Jr. at LSU in 2021, and was handed over to the depth charts by them in 2022. It led him to a transfer portal where he only played eight games at TCU in 2023, along with a change in coaching at LSU, and he was not a major receiver for horned. His best films and his best season came in his 22 year old season in 2024. Injury is part of Bech’s past. He suffered a prolonged injury from 2022, when he kept him from spring football before the 2023-2023 season. Upon approaching 100% he was hit by a high Ante sprain that required a tightrope walk, sacrificing three of the four games he missed that season. He was healthy in 2024, earning playing time in spring practice, and then finished his senior season early, hanging for the majority of the season before injuring the MCL. He practiced for three days at the 2025 Senior Bowl and was healthy enough to play in the game afterwards.
Conclusion
You may prefer to play outdoors, but master the profile as a big physical receiver that can compete side-by-side anywhere. The versatility and strong hands of his route will only help his case play late, but it will take an increase in footwork and agility to establish himself as a truly big contributor. There are concerns about injuries and the watch has been etched into his career from the age of 23, but he should be the top three receiver for the NFL team within his first two seasons.
