LMU didn’t have a great season last year, but they are starting to struggle. They defeated Southern University 89-73 on Friday.
Much of LMU’s success can be attributed to Alex Merkviladze. He went 6-for-7 from beyond the arc along the way, finishing with 24 points and seven rebounds. With this dominant performance, Melkviladze also set a career high in field goal percentage (63.6%). Another player who made a difference was Jevon Porter, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
LMU worked as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. Southern University easily outscored their opponents in that department as they only posted 11 points.
Meanwhile, North Alabama enters the tilt after winning its second straight game against Charleston Southern on Thursday, but will enter its next game on a three-game winning streak. They easily won 86-69 against the Buccaneers.
LMU won its fourth straight home game, improving its record to 7-4. As for N. Alabama, they have been on a roll lately, winning four of their last five games, a nice improvement on their 8-4 record this season.
