North Carolina A&T enters Friday’s matchup having beaten the oddsmakers in its last game against Buffalo by a whopping 160 points above or below. North Carolina A&T fell just short of a victory on Monday, losing 82-81 to Buffalo. The game was tied 43-43 at halftime, but the Aggies were unable to get the shutout.
North Carolina A&T’s loss shouldn’t obscure the performances of Landon Glasper, who had 29 points and two steals, and Janathan Lamothe, who had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Glasper’s performance made up for the delay in Wednesday’s game against Morgan State.
East Carolina, on the other hand, didn’t struggle much against UIC on Saturday, winning 72-55. With this victory, the Pirates achieved their second straight title.
East Carolina’s victory was the result of some impressive offensive performances. Most notable was RJ Felton, who went 9-for-14 and scored 21 points along the way. Additionally, Felton also shot 75 percent from 3-point range, his highest since January. CJ Walker was another key player, going 9-for-15 with 21 points and 8 rebounds along the way.
The loss to North Carolina A&T dropped their record to 3 wins and 3 losses. As for East Carolina, the win improved their record to 6-1.
Both teams are the highest scoring teams in the league, so high-performance offenses will be on the agenda. North Carolina A&T has had no trouble scoring this season, averaging 83.3 points per game. However, it’s not like East Carolina is struggling in that department as they are averaging 81.3 points per game. Both teams could easily accumulate points, so the only question that remains is who will be able to put up more points.
