How to use FaceTime’s SharePlay on iOS 18 on your iPhone or Mac
In iOS 18, Apple has enhanced FaceTime’s SharePlay feature, making it easier than ever to remotely help your family with computer issues. Here’s how to use SharePlay to guide you through troubleshooting steps.
Start a FaceTime call: First, start a FaceTime call with the family member who needs support. Activate SharePlay: Once the call connects, tap the SharePlay button. This will give you several options, including sharing your screen or requesting access to someone else’s screen. Share your screen: Select (Share your screen) if you need to show how to perform a task. This will broadcast your screen to others so they can follow your instructions. Request access to your screen: If you need to see your screen to diagnose a problem, select (Request to share). The other person must approve this request. Once approved, a screen will appear on your device. Interactive tools: While viewing the screen, use new drawing tools to highlight areas or draw instructions directly on the screen. This is very useful for indicating specific buttons or menu options. Control playback: If you’re watching a tutorial video together, you can control playback and it’s synced between both devices. This ensures that both are on the same page. Ending SharePlay: When you’re done, simply tap the SharePlay button again and choose to end the session.
Using these steps, you can effectively help your family with computer problems, no matter where you are.
