Monae is this year’s Galahost Committee, along with Simone Biles, Spike Lee, Ayo Edebili, Andre 3000 and other public figures in sports and art.
In February, the museum revealed the event’s co-chairs and host committee, as well as its dress code, “Tailored for You.” It relates to an exhibition focused on tailored suit styles and menswear, but leaves room for interpretation.
Co-chairs of the 2025 Met Gala are actor Colman Domingo, Formula I driver Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, hip-hop Imprezario Farrell Williams, and fashion icon Anna Wintool, a longtime editor of Vogue. NBA star LeBron James works as an honorary chair, according to the Met.

A day before Met Gala, the new red carpet event, the Debt Gala, will be held in Brooklyn. The event was established to raise funds for organizations that help ease medical debts for people in marginalized communities. It also has a theme: let them eat cake: ruined wealth. Tickets are $35.
