Exclusive: Rep. Ralph Norman (Rs.C.) is “seriously considering” the South Carolina governor’s run, he told Fox News Digital on Tuesday.
“I’ve been here for eight years and I’m doing a good job,” Norman said just outside the Capitol.
Norman added that he firmly believes in Congress’ term limits, “I might come back. We’ll see.”
“But the governor’s race has some appeal to it,” he said.

Norman first won his home seat in his first election in 2016.
He is a conservative fiscal hawk and an important member of the House Freedom Caucus.
Norman’s home website promotes him as a lifetime resident of South Carolina’s 5th Congressional District, where he serves.

Punchbowl News reported earlier this year that Norman was considering running for governor. However, his comments on Fox News Digital on Tuesday seem to be a marked escalation of higher offices in his affair.
Norman previously pondered a major challenge to longtime South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.
But running for governorship, he was a fellow home conservative, Rep. Nancy Mace, Rs.C.

Mace told The Associated Press earlier this year that he was equally “seriously considering” the governor’s run.

Another name that pops up within the state of Palmetto is South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.
Norman and Mace are both vocal supporters of Trump, but both had public breaks from the president. Norman especially supported the president by South Carolina’s Nikki Haley, but switched to supporting Trump shortly after Haley dropped out.
Trump himself doesn’t place any emphasis on race.
