Federal food regulators have sounded the alarm over a recall of eggs sold from the United States. costco store Reclassify affected products to the highest risk level based on the potential for exposure to Salmonella.
Approximately 10,800 retail 24-pack organic pasture-raised eggs sold under Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand were recalled by Handsome Brook Farms in New York, the FDA said on November 27. It was announced that it would be done.
But then, in an updated notice issued Friday, the FDA reclassified the recall to what the agency calls a Class I recall for “a reasonable probability that use or exposure to a violative product will result in serious health harm or death.” .
The affected egg cartons were sold at 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee starting November 22nd.
Organic Pasture Raised eggs, sold in sets of 24, have a Universal Product Code (UPC) of 9661910680 and a best before date of January 5, 2025.
The FDA says customers with these eggs should return them to Costco for a full refund.
