The FBI and Department of Homeland Security said Saturday that an ongoing investigation into reported drone sightings over New Jersey revealed that “many reported drone sightings are actually manned aircraft that are mistaken for drones.” announced that it had been found.

Since mid-November, the FBI has investigated hundreds of reports of people operating drones at night, most of them larger than those used by hobbyists.
FBI officials said Thursday that they had seen “no evidence” that the drone sightings “posed a threat to national security or public safety.”
Sightings have also occurred near a golf course and military research facility in Bedminster, New Jersey, owned by President-elect Donald Trump.
