As travelers begin planning their summer trips, new reports reveal the latest travel trends and highlight opportunities for family events.
American Express Travel is releasing its annual 2025 Global Travel Trends Report, with one trend, “Fam Travel,” where people spend quality time with their loved ones.
“Travelers, especially millennials and ZZ, are motivated to book thoughtful and meaningful trips this year,” said Oudrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel.

“Fam Travel” is a multi-generational trend where grandparents, parents and children are all packing bags,” Hendry said in a press release.
58% of Millennials and Gen Z’s parents plan to take their extended family on vacation, the report found.

“Quality time” was cited by 89% of these millennials and Gen Z-era parents as the main reason for their vacation.
Meanwhile, 24% said they would bring in large families for babysitters.

Another trend known as “root travel” is gaining momentum with Americans who consider their ancestors while booking their vacations.

Travelmation president and founder Adam Duckworth said Fox News Digital Roots Travel is more common among older generations.
“They also have the finances to support travel like this. They often invite other families to join them,” Duckworth said.
