There were questions about whether the Eagles would accept the invitation after they didn’t do so in 2018, but Trump told spectators late last month that the team would visit this time.
“They’re here, Philadelphia is here,” Trump told the outlet.
Trump announced his invitation to the team last month.
Eagles Trump says that he receives the White House invitation after Super Bowl LIX wins
“They’re (invited) and we’re not yet, but we’ll do,” Trump said. “I thought it was a great performance for them. Absolutely they’ll be extended the invitation. We’ll do it soon. We’ll do it today. They deserve to be here and we want to see them.”
Eagles captain Lane Johnson said the White House visit would be a “team decision” after winning the Super Bowl.
“No matter who the president is, I’ll be honored to go, but we’ll see,” Johnson said via Sports’ Eric Jackson. “The ultimate decision is the team. We’ll do what’s best for the team.”

Having spent all 12 NFL seasons in the franchise, Johnson was on the team in 2018 when he won the organization’s first Vince Lombardi Trophy and defeated the New England Patriots.
But the controversy continued as some players said they would not visit the White House in the year Trump revoked his invitation to the Eagles, due to criticism of the then 45th president of the year he revoked his invitation to the Eagles and police brutality.
Trump issued a statement at the time regarding the cancellation of his invitation, saying “it’s more valuable to the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event.”
“They oppose the President because he salutes the great men and women of our military and the people of our nation, claiming that they have their national anthem, their hands in mind,” Trump’s statement read seven years ago.
