Firefighters were called to the rescue this week to rescue a Saint Bernard who became trapped in an unusual location.
According to reports, the dog became trapped on the “icy and slippery roof” of the house while the owner was away.

Firefighters were able to encourage the pet to return to the home through the window it appeared to have crawled out of in the first place, the report said.

According to SWNS, the animal’s owners returned home just as the dangerous 30-minute rescue mission was coming to an end.
“This was a great example of teamwork to safely bring the situation to a close,” said Supervisory Manager Jeff Weal.

He added that the dog was scared. “However, with patience and some treats, we were able to get the dog back inside without any harm,” SWNS said.
The American Kennel Club calls the St. Bernard “the gentle giant of the Swiss Alps,” noting that it was once “used to find and rescue lost and injured travelers.”
It is “one of the world’s famous and most beloved breeds.”
