A fugitive sex offender who has been called Detroit’s “most wanted” since 2018 was captured in Burien, Washington, on Tuesday after a police pursuit.
Corey Alan Olson, who used various aliases while on the run, evaded police while living in the Washington area until he was arrested by King County sheriff’s detectives, according to Fox 13.
Olson used the name “Randall,” which matched the name of a Kansas resident whose identity was exposed while Olson was working a temporary job in Washington state. Kansas authorities notified Washington state authorities after the Kansas individual was questioned about unpaid taxes on income earned elsewhere, sparking further investigation.
“I love the ‘find me’ puzzle,” Detective Riley Micklebust, who played a key role in Olson’s arrest, told Fox 13.

Myklebust said he faced great challenges while investigating the identity theft case.
“I spent about a week going through over 10 addresses and years’ worth of records and still couldn’t figure out who this guy was. That was a clue. Normally I’d know,” he said.
Olson was spotted by detectives getting into a car at his new job in Berrien, and police tried to stop him after Olson pushed the sergeant and fled in the car, but he was quickly caught by Micklebust, who was pursuing him in a minivan.
Fingerprints confirmed Olson’s identity, but he still refused to admit who he was.

“What did he say? He said he wasn’t going to give it away,” Micklebust said.
Olson’s criminal history includes sexually assaulting a teenage girl and evading arrest after injuring a sheriff’s deputy in a car crash. He then moved to Washington state, where he was charged with another sexual assault on a disabled person.
According to Fox 13, Olson’s lawyers sought to protect his client’s identity when he was charged with identity theft, impersonation and multiple counts of forgery, and the court agreed.

Police have stressed the importance of public awareness due to Olsen’s history of sexual offenses: He frequented karaoke bars and posed as a wealthy investor with a military background, often targeting women with teenage daughters, according to Fox 13.
According to the outlet, detectives found him in several communities, including Issaquah, Downtown Seattle, Puyallup and Olympia. They said he used several names, including Randall, Josiah, Payton and Nikko, with the surnames Erb and Cadaa.
Anyone who has been victimized by Olson is urged to contact police.
