a delta The flight, which had just taken off from Boston Logan International Airport, had to return soon after the “smoke smell” was detected in the cabin shortly after takeoff, the airline said.
The plane safely landed on Sunday morning, with 92 people on board not injured, Delta said.
According to the airline, the Delta Flight 1398 was on its way to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on the Airbus A220.
The flight had to change direction after crews reported smoke on both the flight deck and the cabin, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane returned to Boston at around 9:35am on Sunday.
The airline said a state of emergency was declared to be prioritized by air traffic control.
Delta said he “works to bring passengers on the journey as quickly as possible and safely.”
The FAA is investigating the issue.
